A revolution is underway to remind women that they are able to birth their babies without fear. Womens’ bodies are not broken. Larson is teaching women all over the world techniques to tap into this internal wisdom of birth. She is sharing dance, comfort measures, connection and support with other women to provide tools for success in labor.
Last year, Mercy Hospital St. Louis trained 18 of its labor and delivery nurses in Dancing for Birth and began offering the weekly 90-minute childbirth and parenting education classes. The six-week sessions include dance moves like “Dilation Gyration” and “Down Baby Down” to help women stay healthy throughout pregnancy and ease pain and improve health outcomes in labor.
After their babies are born, women continue to come with their babies in carriers, to connect with other new moms and use dance to soothe and bond with their infants… [read more…]
