Stephanie Larson, founder of Dancing For Birth™, was interviewed by Tanya Hill of The Healing Arts Learning Organization. Tanya has been professionally trained through the Dancing For Birth™ program and advocates for women to have positive childbirth education to understand their choices and help eliminate fear from the process of birth – focusing on a holistic approach to healthcare. After the birth of her own son, Tanya began a specialized path focusing on care of women and children during the pre and post-natal period. She teaches professional training courses in Reflexology and Doula programs with HALO. HALO students receive 16 CEUs by attending the two-day Dancing For Birth™ workshop. Visit the HALO Training Page to learn more about Reflexology, Doula and Hot Stone Massage training throughout Alberta and Ontario.
In this interview, Stephanie shares the origins of Dancing For Birth™ pre/post natal classes and one of the “Aha!” moments she had that lead her to create a birth method that is grounded in movement and encourages women to follow their instincts to stand up for birth. It takes courage to tell positive birth stories. Women deserve to hear the uplifting possibilities for birth. Fortunately, Stephanie was not discouraged by the negative stories she became accustomed to hearing from her peers who had traumatic births. Instead, she has taken great strides to increase the number of joyful birth stories through her life’s work – as Founder and Master Trainer of Dancing For Birth™. You can read some of the stories here. And without further ado, please enjoy the interview!
#StandUpForBirth- a multifaceted phrase! Be an advocate for birth. Literally stand up in labor to utilize gravity. How do you stand up for birth?
